Four years have passed since Avatar Aang defeated Phoenix King Ozai and brought the Four Nations to peace. In the meantime, the Phoenix King's daughter has languished in a cushy asylum. When a surprise visit makes her realize how much she's let herself go, what else is there for Azula to do but wreak some sweet-tasting vengeance?

This story was requested by :iconssakurai: as part of my request contest. Again, thanks to all who participated.

Art by SSakurai. Some characters are from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Hmm... I guess that's open to interpretation :) Not my intention, however.

Try right-clicking the 'download' button and choose 'save as' to download it. There seems to be a lot of trouble with deviantArt displaying PDFs properly.

Sorry for the (extremely) late reply. When you posted this, I read it, but I was half asleep and my input wouldn't have been very good. But now I've re-read it in a (more) lucid state.

I really enjoyed it. Interesting use of the present tense, for one thing. You did a really good job with the characters, keeping them realistically in tune with the way they were portrayed on the show. Azula's obsession with "winning" and delusion that she can still reclaim her throne were a masterful touch- it truly feels like she's suffering from a mental disorder.

Also, the descriptions were really sexy.

I'm glad it's still good when you're awake :)

The present tense thing was a lot of extra effort - and I'm still not sure why I chose to do it. I'd like to think it's to mimic the immediacy of the TV show format... or something...
